Dashboard Sharing

Dashboard Sharing is an exciting feature of K12Portal that allows a teacher to share assignments and grades with parents and students. Sharing is enabled on a section by section basis, in other words, you will have to enable sharing for each of the sections that you are teaching. (To see what the student and parent dashboard look like, click here)

Enable Dashboard Sharing

To enable sharing, simply go to your gradebook and select the section which you want to share with your students and their parents. On the top right, You'll see a link:.

Enable_link

Click on this link and a dialog box will pop up:

Dashboard_enable

The "sharing disabled" radio button indicates that sharing is currently disabled. To enable sharing, click the "enable" radio button and click "OK". K12Portal will now create a list of students and their parents and send out an email to each person on this list. The email will invite the student or parent to create an account on k12portal, which will give them access to the dashboard.

For sharing to work, it is key that you have filled in a valid email address for each student. If you have not, K12Portal will give a warning for each student and parent.

Disabling Dashboard Sharing

To Disable sharing of a section, simply click the "Student Dashboard: Enabled" link on the top right when you are in the gradebook module. Cliking this link will cause a dialog box to be shown:

Dashboard_disable

The radio button indicates that sharing is currently on, select the "disable" button and click "OK"to disable sharing. No emails will be sent when you disable sharing for a given section. The student or parent dashboard will simply no longer show assignments and grades.

Note: Sharing is enabled and disabled on a section by section basis. You will have to enable and disable sharing for each section individually.
